Notice: The Trolley Supporters Meeting will be Thursday, July 9th at 9 am at Mikes On Main. We invite all supporters to attend.
The Hendersonville Trolley Project ended June 28. It was a wonderful success. Tourism benefited as well as the spirit of our little town. All of us will hold dear the many happy faces we saw...especially the children. So many of you contributed generously. Some of you gave us very straightforward and helpful advice which we implemented. Sadly, up to this point we have not been able to find funding to continue serving the downtown metro area. We will be holding a Trolley Rally for supporters to share ideas on how we might keep and improve our trolley service. For example, we can lower the cost if we restrict it to Friday, Saturday and Sunday service. You can check this website for date and time of this meeting.
If you believe the trolley benefits Hendersonville, you might want to contact the following elected officials and/or organizations: Travel & Tourism, Hendersonville City Council, Henderson County Commissioners, and the Community Foundation. If each of these organizations gave the Trolley Project $5,000 we could run our trolley all the way past Apple Festival.
In the meantime we wish all of you health and happiness in 2009.
The Hendersonville Trolley Company, Inc. is the steward of a wonderful historic trolley that is a delight to see and ride in beautiful Downtown Hendersonville, North Carolina. Our Mission is to serve local residents and tourists, facilitate the tourism experience, provide access to historical destinations and enhance the economic vitality of merchants and restaurants in the greater downtown area.
Our Hendersonville Trolley, "Cinderella," is quite unique in that she has both a front and back porch with a golden oak interior and etched glass skylight windows. There is even a unique jump seat next to the driver that young ones are sure to want. Why do we call her "Cinderella" or "Cindy" for short? Because we found her in a barn, sitting among the dust and now after a wonderful restoration by Mr. Troy Parris and her owner Mr. John Pauwels, she is ready for the ball.
Please visit us in Historic Hendersonville, NC and take a ride on Cinderella. She only charges a quarter and she will be delighted to serve you. So will her "coachman" Mr. Bill Modlin, your trolley driver and guide. (Also, don't forget that parking is never a problem in Downtown Hendersonville. We now have a Park n' Ride facility on Historic 7th Avenue, just one mile from the I-26 Interstate exit.)
